Ello,
I just finished one of my builds, got everything together and took it for
a test ride.
I found that the derailleur skips around the third smallest sprocket.
It's a maillard freewheel, 6 speed, a KMC chain, and a Nuovo Record drivetrain.
Crankset is Sugino. FW is NOS, chain was ridden for not more than 200 or so kilometers.
The skipping only happens with the 3rd smallest sprocket, the others all seem fine. It happens when I'm in either chainring, and only when actually riding the bike.
It's a bit like what you get with a badly set up indexed derailleur, the chain jumps from side to side and even shifts to the next sprockets sometimes.
I thought it might be due to a badly made individual sprocket (though there's not much visually wrong with it).
Any other ideas, I've had a pretty good look and can't seem to find any other likely causes.
Cheers,
Johnny
