i think this is a wind up.

if it isnt then you are asking for trouble. you only have the previous owner's word that it has been ridden this way for years without issue, but it is clear to me that the previous owner is happy to talk shite if he says this was caused by a fork and not a heavy front impact.

i recon you are too much of a worrier to be giving the replies you have, and therefore i am calling you bluff and saying this is a wind up :LOL:
 
Being serious mate, both this frame and my one that has the chainstay problem been like it for years and been fine. ;)
 
Hang it up. That bulge is pretty big. I'd not trust it to take a mile to the shop and back. Shame, as the rest looks ok, but you are asking for trouble.

Agree with the 1997 being a better frame anyway.
 
Surprised you guys would kill it off, I will see how it goes once built :twisted: :twisted:
