Just got this frame it has a slight bulge on the downtube right by the headtube, was told that in past the owner put wrong length forks on frame and this was cos of it. The frame seems solid and sure be fine to ride like it, so I am going to swap over parts from my 97 Kilauea onto this one.

Here is pic's of frame , its in great nick apart from the bulge , which you can't really see.

I have rode many bikes in past with dents etc and had no problems ;) ;)

hang it on the wall, the 97 has the same tubing and a better dropout design.

Hang on wall no way , waste of a frame that can be ridden ;)

Looks like a frontal impact has buckled the tube .. Your head angle will likely be a bit steeper than it should be!

Hit a root hard, or land front-heavy and it may fold underneath you

It's about location, and do you care about your teeth. A dent on the downtube or handlebar ding no way equal the risk of a crease at the HT junction.

Had a dent / fold on chainstay on other frame and had no problems with that ;)

Wont be a downhill racer this one anyway ;)

Oh I know that but I am saying it's been like that for years and not failed. ;)
