91 Merlin retro/modern/custom build (aka the Merlingham)

I've made the U-brakes and the brake boosters for the Merlingham.
Here are a few shots:

These are fashioned after the WTB brake boosters:

Those previous pictures show the springs before I cut them to length.

Tune in next year for my next update ;)

 Scott, are you changing profession and you've not told me? When you start building bike frames and/or components, can my name be the first on the list? ;)

Nope, just like to spend my lunch hour in the machine shop.

Everything takes me a looooooooong time to complete. The springs for example, took me months to figure out how to properly bend them to fit those little hex adjusting nuts.

here's a picture showing the bending jig:

and me bending them:

and all the mistakes:

Hmmm… those look similar to something that would work as spares for my Control Tech canti brakes.

How long would it take you to bend some Arch Supreme spring spares? ;)

Wow! This is going to be fantastic. The fact that you've made your own brakes makes it even cooler and will make it all the more special for you too I would think?

based on my current learning curve I'd say 1 month per bending radius .... so.... 8 months? ;)

great job!! those DIY parts could be the future of retro bike enthousiasts...

I too have a 91 hard tail Merlin. I was considering doing a dirt drop for my 87ish Fisher Montare but now, who knows!!!! :p

I'll be following this thread and 2nd in line if you choose to make more rollercams please. You're my new retr0friend!
