I read recently that mercedes use carbon for the drive shaft in the touring cars?

It makes me laugh when people go on about how 'fragile' modern production carbon fibre bikes are... and then someone produces something like this.

OK, it's at the extreme end of what's capable with CF at the moment, but it puts a 1.5kg MTB frame into perspective.

By thousands of pounds, and most of those are money pounds.

Lovely cranks. No pedals. Must be great riding a racing bike that is that light.
I'd rather a AX-Lightness bike. But haven't won the lotto (yet)

You can buy Carbon prop-shafts for road cars these days - and really, they are not stupid expensive at around £1 - 1.5k. They can deal with well over the odds in terms of power.

Yes, its lots of money, but its certainly not 20x the cost of the standard unit from a dealer and it saves a lot of weight.
