1996 PROFLEX 856 16'' - FOR GIRLFRIEND

I just finished a replica of my high school 856, but to do it I needed to buy 4 donor bikes...taking the best and most accurate parts from each to build my bike..

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=179799

Now that that build is complete, I decided to build a bike out of the 2nd best parts for my girlfriend...just a quick build..

that of course didn't happen...I think her bike is nicer than mine!

The coils on this bike work much better than my elastomers...the forks where treated to a thin polish...leaving a bit of the clear anodizing..

I made a nice set of pc7s with the ones I have.

Lovely builds, red is the best colour.

BTW hers does look better with the dark anodised rims and yellow spring!.

Lovely build, I have the chance of a carbon proflex frame should I go for it? :)

Awesome bikes!

I had my better half on a proflex for a while and quickly came to the conclusion that happiness is a girls bum on a proflex.

You should contact gtRTSdh who has a 957

Nice bikes Henry they came out well

Thank Guys,

Passiflora, I have no experience with the all carbon proflexes..I think they are in fact thermoplastic, and for me 1997 was the last year for proflex before k2 destroyed the brand.

My GF got me to switch the saddle...now she loves it!

This is my first post in this forum, i found it today.

I have my Prflex 856 since when i bougth it new, well i havent bought a bike, iv'e bought the parts and build it. in the summer of 96 when i still compete.

Since then past some years without taking it, and now i want to rebuild it to new form, if can to start cycling.

I want to find the rear elastomers for the suspension, where did you bought yours? Or the springs that you have in this bike?

Thanks

Hey man

You have a few options:

1 Risse racing in Oregon and get custom made air oil shocks for front and rear..
2 suspensionforkparts makes new elastomers.
3 try and get speeds springs for the ods units.. They come up on eBay now and then.
4 replace the ods units with noleen units.. Again.. eBay
5 use a modern air shock and make an adapter..
6 go to a local speciality store and buy springs from a catologue... And have a machine shop make up some aluminum ends

Good luck!
