sale of old stuff

Neil McDonald

Retro Newbie
Hello, I work for Common Wheel in Glasgow. We are a bike recycling charity. After 12 years, we are refurbishing and have found more stuff than we need.

We are having a sale on Saturday 1st of September to try to clear out interesting old parts at jumble sale prices. There will be some old mtbs and frames.

The sale will be at 53 Chapel Street, Maryhill Glasgow G43 1UG, starting at 10 am.

Hi Neil.

Note to the others : before you report this as a professional seller :

I did a quick check on them, and it appears to be a registered charity.
I worked for a similar charity and can verify the difference these usually make for people that have problems, so I fully support the OP.

If you're nearby, check it out. Not only can you get parts for cheap, you're supporting a good cause by doing so.

Just a suggestion for Neil. If he was willing to photograph the items in question I would have thought he might get more interest/cash on here than at a local jumble. Unless of course the whole MacRetro clan turns up.

Quite possibly, but there is so much stuff. I'm never quite sure what will sell and what won't, so we have been keeping things.

There will be about 40 left hand cranks at £1 each.
A few suspenbsion forks, some 1" threaded.
a front wheel for a 1987 Muddy Fox Courior ( and the frame, though it has lost its paint)
hubs, wheels.

Should I post this in the road section too?

Only post in the road section if you think there is enough road stuff, details of what you have will always help, even a photo of the stock room can be enought to get the eagle eyed interested.

We have linked this to the Macretro section so most of the Scottish members already know about this.

ohhh 1st of sept is my birthday as welll... but I'll be on holiday :? :(

pls post up any future events Neil, and good luck ;)

That airborne might generate more via a specialised scrap dealer - should be around £50 to £80 quids worth in a titanium frame.

I like the cannondale and orbit but they look too big for me.
