Oops! What was I thinking?

Black seatpost! That wouldn't be very traditional.....Just a cheap silver Uno is on order.

Brakes came today. Calipers fit okay although the blocks are at the highest point despite the seller telling me that max drop was 85mm (I need 83mm), anyway they fit and look much better than the rusty originals. Can't fit the levers yet though cos I got no bars (just how long do bars take to come from the USA anyway!?)

Saw this on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... true&rt=nc Probably about a third of what mine will total and looks to be in mighty fine condition. Obviously mine will be much better and saved from the skip, plus unique and a couple of kilo lighter :D

2 weeks! Oof....I want them NOW :x :D

Yup the bars are holding up the build a bit now as I have most other parts.

Got a few more parts today:

And for the next exciting instalment.

With the tan grips and saddle plan in mind it was time to look for a saddle. Now I've blown way too much on this build already so the Brooks B17s that I would have liked for the build was pretty much out of the question. Perhaps one day when one falls into my lap (although not sure my missus will appreciate riding something so hard!  )

eBay and Google reveal a serious lack of the saddle I seek so drastic action was required; Recover the original!

Never done this before so was unsure of how it was going to turn out, especially considering how curvy the saddle is in comparison to something like a Turbo. Anyway some material from eBay, a stapler and a big tin of Evostik from Screwfix and I'm reasonably pleased with the result. The underside is a little untidy to say the least. I did tidy it a little more than that pictured below.

Family were pleasantly surprised at my success :D

Thanks fella. Yeah I think with a little practice I could be quite good at saddle covering....

Saddle fitted:

You'll noticed I swapped the seat clamp for the smaller one, the double bolted one was just too chunky for the bike.

So finally the bars arrive from the US, well not too bad actually they took 1 week. Comparing to the original bars they not too bad a match really, very pleased. Bit wider and I did consider cutting them down but decided against it in the end:

plus I had the other bar parts waiting:

So nearly there now. I need the bit to attach the gear cable which is on order and I have a couple of other bits and pieces to complete it.
