Best tyre choice - puncture protection

OK

I've got the bike sorted - 2000 Gary Fisher Paragon

The bike is as new and hasn't been used since a couple of months old - so I'm presuming that the tyres could do with changing - the originals WTB Nanoraptor 2.1 don't get the best writeup

So - what do I go for that is good quality for trails etc (not heavy XC) and is resistant to punctures ?

I've seen Schwalbe Marathon PLUS MTB or ATB but don't know if they are the best bet

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Simon

marathon plus are the best - but they are more or less slick so not great for offroading - they are also damn heavy. it is a compromise - weight or puncture protection - choose one.

I've never had any issues with single ply High Roller 2.35's even on slower rocky trails. They're not too heavy either at around 850g.
