Using an MTB rise stem on a Road Setup

Hello All,

I am working on building a road bike frame with a road bike setup.

Coming from an MTB background, I was wondering if anyone on here has used an MTB style Quill stem with a good level of rise with Road Handlebars.

How do you like it? Maybe not the most appealing of looks? Please share photos of your setup.

Also how do you like the ride compared to the zero rise classic road stems ?

I know that newer generation road bikes, use a slight rise on their stems, but maybe that is also due to newer frame geometries ?

Thanks

Using a stem like that would mean your bars are far too high, if not then your frame is too small, ie head tube is too short.

But that is the "normal" road bike position, perhaps you might need high bars for some reason, eg a bad back.

There are a few very tall traditional-looking quill stems you could use - Nitto Technomic is what I have. Velo Orange also sell one.
