London 2012 Olympic Mountain Biking: The Contenders (Women)

Annie Last. I do hope she doesn't live up to her surname  Come on Annie.
I nearly want to be there shouting her on.

All hail Sabine Spitz, silver medal at the ripe old age of 40.

Shame she didn't wear this for the race...

Really enjoyed watching this thought the BBC coverage was good and Chris boardman too. Take my hat off to the Brit she could have raced in the younger age group she has got a long career ahead

I didn't think the coverage was that good, nor the commentary.

They didn't even seem to notice Spitz' crash until the TV showed the replay, and they never pointed out out that Georgia Gould was held up by Spitz blocking the path - that cost her c10 seconds, which is more than the margin by which she lost out on the silver.

I think I'm right in saying if she had run round Spitz, she would have been disqualified for leaving the path. Not very good course design if you don't lose out as a result of crashing.

Talking of babes, the commentators said that Emily Batty had done surprisingly badly, finishing almost last. Presumably they weren't even aware that she was racing with a cracked collarbone following a practice smash!
