A friend of mine dug out these wheels he's had hanging in the garage for ever. Still a big cyclist. There are three of them, all on the same mavic rim. Wondered if anyone could id the campag hub, and perhaps give some idea of value. They're tubulars.

He thinks the other wheel for this went to the dump on his falcon.

Japanese campag copy? Pair of these with a Japanese 5 speed close ratio.

Thanks for any help.

That front hub with the tape looks like a Suzue hub ?

If so it has Suzue stamped on the outer bearing face..

Campag hub looks like a Nuovo Tipo. Below Nuovo Record in the 70s-early 80s range.
Value: very much depends on condition of the bearings and rims under the grime. They're not particularly exotic, so not a retirement plan...

rims are these. Depend on when they were made, Mavic rims in the mid 70's were IMHO pretty mediocre and most of us used Fiamme, superchampion or cheap and cheerful AVA.

Mavics seemed to have poor joins which made braking a bit of a chore. Not sure what happened but at the end of the 70's they suddenly got better....rumour has it that they took over Superchampion and used their expertise but may be urban myth.

Value the pair of Campags if in good nick at 75-95 the pair or more if someone is looking for a specific build and the value of the front large flange depends on you identifying the hub :)
