Gates aftermath

Yeah well, not bad considering I hadnt ridden in anger since April.

Road Peleton felt good - I feel another Corby road ride coming on...

Another fantastic day in the fens, dodgy going in places but it was still good fun. Apologies for riding modern this time, but after the "ride-through bike wash" meadow I'm glad I did! Went to fix a slow puncture yesterday only to find the tyre full of water...
The L2C went well yesterday, a little bit slower than last year but I'm not used to doing over 100 miles in a weekend.

Right, I have an internet so can reply properly.

Thanks again to all that came, especially Grahame and his 'bike'...

Looks like a great day out, guys...sorry I couldn't make it

I hope those bearings have dried out by now...

All the best,

Have spent most of the afternoon doing a complete strip down and rebuild of the bike I used. Like Neil I found most of the water inside the rims. Suprised to find the rear wheel bearing is completely dry with lovely clean grease inside, front wheel has cartridge bearings and they are buttery smooth. Gave the freehub a flush through and relube too as it had not been done before. The forks were perfect inside with no sign of water ingress.

The only casualty was surface rust around the back of the BB shell. Porkpies are notorious for this so a quick wiz over with a wire brush and it looks good again.
