Jean Michel Jarre - precursor to contemporary dance?

Can anybody remember or link to the Jarre track that made the charts pre Oxygene? It was with a pop group and he wasnt named but rumoured to be playing the keyboards. It was on TOTP in around 1975/6

I love jarres music

My earliest memory of jarre was looking at the oxygene album cover of my dads, quite an iconic cover I think.
Then I remember when he did the big spectacular concerts and watching them on the telly, it was either London docklands or Houston being the first ones I watched, mind blowing light shows. I quickly became a fan and the first lp I bought was a live one of Houston and Lyon, and then started collecting the rest. I think magnetic fields is probably one of my favourites.

I finally got to see him live in the early nineties on the chronologie tour, me and my dad were on harder times by then but we got the tickets from the box office (no Internet then!) and trundled all the way to Manchester and back in an old mini, having no idea if it would make it lol. Awesome show though, not quite the scale of the big ones he'd done before but great none the less.

He did another tour a few years back, I took the mrs as I kept telling her about the light shows, but it was an indoor jobbie and whilst the music as good as ever the display was nothing compared to the old stuff. Still using the laser harp :)

I think tomorrow is going to be jarre listening day :)

Was it this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP7aNuqp_YU

No, that is Popcorn, the one I am looking for is more obscure. He was dressed as an astronaut for the show

I even remember the tune and the effect they used on the "astronaut's" visor; bit like an ECG. Can't for the life of me think of the name though. I always thought it was someone latching onto the success of JMJ but you could be right.

In my opinion, Magnetic Fields I and Ethnicolor I (off Zoolook) are some of the best pieces of electronic music ever created. What it must have been like in the studio upon completion of those tracks must have been awesome. I like nothing better than blasting these out at ear splitting volume through decent speakers or especially headphones.

I first came across Zoolook via a sample arranged by Rob Hubbard on the Commodore 64. Very impressive for a 3 voice sound chip!! A truly stonking album
