Hi,
Have gone down the suspension fork route for the first time since buying my first mountain bike in 87 so be gentle please. Looking for a Lockout switch for the above forks. My second hand forks have a remote lockout system (without the cable or thumb switch sadly) so would like to convert them to a switch on the end of the right fork as I can't even switch the lockout on or off at the moment.. Not sure if it can even be done but maybe someone will know? I am fairly sure you could get these forks without the poploc feature so presume you can do it. Cheap as chips please.

Thanks, James.

Hi
I'm not confessing to be an RS expert or anything but I have just rebuilt a pair of 318 uturns so have done a bit of reading on them!!

I'm pretty sure the damper (the bit the lockout knob attaches to) is different between the turn key & remote lockout forks. You defenately have to change damper if you want to convert a turn key to remote so I'm guessing going back from remote to TK would be the same?!?!?

Any way here's a link to a TK damper if you have no other joy

Also this may be an option???

Failing that give TF Tuned a call they may have something kicking about !!

Good luck

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It looks like it may be cheaper to look for a cheap second hand handlebar lever rather than convert to the knob on the fork itself. Do you know if the poploc cable clamp on the top of the fork leg would work if I used an old gear cable to pull the lever round or would it just spring back to the suspension setting? Thinking of only using suspension sometimes so not fussed about having to fiddle with it every now and then.

Thanks, James.

I'm pretty sure the lever has a locking mechanism in it, I.e. you have to push a little button to get the fork to return to 'open' after having it locked out so u might find that with just a cable the damper will spring back to its default open position?!?! It's just a gear cable that you fit with the poploc lever so that will fit ok so maybe try something like a cheap left hand thumb shifter, again without the locking mechanism in the lever I'm not sure it will work but it's gotta be worth a bash on a budget!!!

Something like this or post another 'wanted' for something secondhand ?!?

Hi,
As I thought. The default is suspension "on" . I reckon I will look for a second hand genuine poploc lever and see what comes up. Thanks for your help with this. Much appreciated.

James.
