Stripping anodizing?

I did a LX crank with one of the recm over cleaners, liquid in a sealed bag etc
To be honest it was a pain, took a few goes and left the metal looking pretty bad. It didn't just go in and come out 5 mins later stripped.
The end goal being to polish anyway, I'd just go straight to the sanding now...

Agreed, it takes seconds in caustic soda.

The time differences are from either using oven cleaner (takes its time) or caustic soda/drain cleaner (seconds). Dont think bleach will shift it.

Yup; use caustic soda in the ratio recommended for shifting drain blockages, and it will only take seconds. Do it in the open air and wear eye protection and gloves .Don't breath the vapour! Dangle the item in the mix on a piece of string, jiggling occasionally to dislodge air bubbles. after 10 seconds transfer it immediately to a bucket of water.poweredbypies":26ugrejq said:
