I thought it rude not to buy it as a stablemate for it's less well endowed "Moonshine"
:D

Not much (virtually none) info on these anywhere, Reynolds 653 "ATB" tubing, I am thinking "531" fork blades & not "653", but don't know for sure as no decals. I do know it was a shortlived top of the range bike, seller confirmed kitted out with XC PRO when he got it.Obviously it is faded, but I am going to have it resprayed, and then transfer my NOS XC PRO kit off the Cindercone, that should save a few £££ The few questions I do have are: What stem would this have had when new, did it really have the one pictured below?, and if so, what colour would the bars have been?, and if not, what colour do you think both the stem & bars would have been. The other question I have is about the decals. Obviously the green raleigh is not original, but in some of the pics you can just make out the original shadows of previous decals. Now these don't look like the ones on the one below, as they are exactly the same as my Moonshine Oh well, maybe I should wait for Bikemeister2000 to pop by.

Cheers...Nick

Nick,

This is ace!

From memory the stem/bars would have pretty pretty ordinary and black in colour.

It will be the nuts with all that XC Pro too!

I think I have a advert for one of these somewhere - I'll dig it out :D

Forks were 653 too, mine had the sticker on.

I will try and find some photos of mine with the original decals in place.

One of the bikes in the pictures is mine, the one with the crud catcher and sus forks (original rigid forks now refitted) ;)

The decals on mine are the originals.

I cant afford XC Pro so mine is slowly being equipped with Suntour X-1 which i reckon looks just as good if further down the pecking order.

Re: 1991 Raleigh - White Lightning

Frame & Forks have finally gone away to be resprayed (only took 1 year  ),. I have the full groupset already, so just had to source the correct width seatpost, and the items below. Theoretically I just need to bolt everything on when it returns.

Cheers...Nick

Re: 1991 Raleigh - White Lightning

Is it going to be a factory refresh or something else? Nice to see another Raleigh on the go. My Raleigh is getting the most use of all my bikes now and will be getting a taste of the new trails in Swinley this evening.

Carl.

That's going to look ace mate

Nice score finding that saddle, I didn't fancy your chances. Where did you get it from?

Carl.

I'm going to get it done as close to the original colours as will allow

Cheers, I saw the saddle for sale on here about a year ago, and thought I would ask if it was still available, which it was :p

Just trying to get the type of decals sorted I want, because as much as I want it to look original, I can't stand the original ones :|

Cheers...Nick

Re: 1991 Raleigh - White Lightning

Here are pics of my Raleigh White Lightning ATB.
All original components except saddle, grips and tyres.
Not bad for a 22 year-old bike!
