Suggestions for nice silver clincher rims :)

As above really. To build on a set of 36 hole Campag 36 hole 70's hubs.

Looked at Mavic MA40 but they only come in grey and not silver so thinking about DRC ST17 or Ambrosio evolution / excellence.

Anybody running some nice silver clincher rims that look like sprints?

Just had a set of wheels built using the DRC ST17 rims onto Ambrosio Zenith road hubs. Beautifully made rims indeed, made in Italy, they were £29.99 per rim. Not the lightest (about 510g), but the bike shop rated them higher than Mavic Open Pro's.

The cheap route would be Rigida Chrina (double eyeleted) about £18.00 per rim. My fixed gear wheels will probably be made of these as I don't won't to spend the earth. http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php ... gb&vid=157

Might not be fancy enough but I just built a pair of Sunrims m13II polished up and I think they look great shiny and double walled and decently light. Not too expensive either over here in the states.

Funnily enough it was the LBS that suggested DRC rims, said that they built into nice wheels.

Think I'll go searching t'internet for a reputable supplier :)

Didn't come across those in my searches, The Paris Brest look like an MA2 sort of copy, and the veloflex tyres look like my vittorio tubs....

Not sure now.........

edited to add, just been for a mooch around the rest of the website...interesting

silver Open Sports?

One thing to check is the depth of the rim. Nowadays, most clinchers are much deeper than old sprints. Brick Lane sells a very shallow (14mm) silver clincher from an interesting outfit in China called H Plus Son, but they're pricey and have had mixed reviews on the net if you can believe the stuff posted.
