shimano shifters and rapid rise rear mech

It's fine - I have rapid rise on two of my five bikes and can hop from one to other without any problems. Go for it! :)

just need to aquire a pair of shifters now. cheaper than a mech though.

anybody want a pair of sram x7? :?

Well if you're anything like me, all the time, I'm going to have two bike RR and all the others normal. I like a challenge!!!

Oh BTW there are no reverse shifters for RR mechs. Well off the shelf, maybe you could swap thumbies around or something crazy like that.
 
If you used a left hand thumbie on friction, rotated on the right for the rear mech then easiest and hardest would be the same position as for a normal mech and shifter. . . . mad I know
