My next project this summer will be a restoration of my old beater. I am not sure if I will glass blast the frame and fork and have them repainted or keep the patina and just clean it and rebuild it with time correct parts.

Do not respray that bike! That's got the history of a thousand rides in that patina & it's own personality!

my old kona looked like that, every scar tells a story.

i had my blasted and powdered and it looked lovely, but it lost its soul. i sold it shortlyu afterwards

dont do it, naybe tough it up a bit

I would leave the patina on until it starts to pee you off then get it done.

I went through the same dilemma with my old trek 930. I convinced myself that the soul rests in the steel, not the thin paint veneer, repainted and am happy I did.

Half of me wouldn't touch it. The other half would paint it exactly how it was. Kind of like a classic race car.
