Does everything still point in the right direction ?

meaning? sorry, long day, straightforward dent in top tube like you'd get if you squeezed putty, about 3 cm x 2 cm in size and 3-4 mm deep at worst...

Have a dent in my Training Frame. Seems like frame still tracks as I used to ride it waaaaaaayyy back. Didn't seem too deep a dent (Handlebars came round after coming off on ice) got my Dad (Toolmaker) to fill with Silver Solder and then flattened back...not got it painted yet, but looks OK...

Late night fort me too.. If the frame still tracks true then I don't see a problem with repairing it. High quality steel is pretty robust as long as it's not been worked or heated to a point where grain boundaries etc are altered.

Just look at the massive "dent" they put in the chainstay to make way for the chainring LOL

There is the option of replacement but the costs will escalate..say £100 for the new top tube and at least £100 for the re-finish.
