Hi guys!

The frame is really a work of art!
Merlin at its best, definitely! :)

There were not 500 built but max. 150 if I remember it correctly...

The normal Elevators were introduced in 1991
The FS Elevators in 1993

But honestly I wouldn't drive such a piece of mountain bike history..
I've a friend and he thought he could "race" his old school Merlin XLM... but unfortunately it broke near the headset..

Cheers,

A good riding friend of mine, rode one all over the World, for years, French and Austrian Alps, Durango, Whistler, Dolomites and even S.A. and Oz and it never missed a beat, ran it with Pace RC 38 Forks and M950 mostly.

Cheers,

Sounds like a badly fitted fork/headset. Otherwise I think it is a little bit sad that these bikes get relegated to some garage because ppl think that they are too "precious".

I would probably ride it (it is a used frame) if I get some other components, want to keep the unused parts fresh shown here, so they won't get ridden/used.

ha ha!

Me too. I am waiting to collect the forks and brakes then the build can start in earnest! Still need XTR cable outers actually (anyone!?!?) but this won't stop me!

Got three builds on the go at present, finding it hard to find the time....
