Don Brooks Columbus, DA - Not finished..

Here's what I've spent my bank holiday Monday doing. It looks modern, but the guy I bought it from bought it 12 years ago, and the Columbus decal suggests older (although that doesn't mean anything..)

Frame was handbuilt by Don Brooks who provided frames for the current Team Sky coach, Rod Ellingworth.

I only bought the frame and the rest is stuff from the shed so It's a work in progress and currently has DA 74XX front mech, crankset, wheels and brake calipers. The rest of the running gear will be 74XX when I get the funds/find some poorly listed items on eBay.

It looks modern because of the straight forks but it's actually at least 12 years old, and probably a fair bit older. I bought it for an excellent price, and am very happy with it, I'm just looking forward to taking it out in the sun.

Serial number is #124!

Pictures here (please excuse the sketchy cabling, I'll tidy it up when I have all the parts on)

Sweet, from the group set and rest of the build I'd guess 1990/91 although I suppose that it could be a slightly newer frame with some older parts.

Regardless, looks a very good find.

Thanks, I really like the look of it. Those straight forks and the pretty much flawless paint make it look quite modern (far more so than the rest of my bikes anyway) but I know it isn't.

The chap I bought it off was from the area and knew some of the history of it, which is nice!

BTW I just bought the frame, I put the rest on today!
