Giant Cadex Gates belt drive Nexus [update 25-04]

will the belt drive cope with muddy conditions? could a build up of crud cause it to slip? or is this just a road bike.
 
The belt drive is developed for MTB's, so for muddy conditions.
The sprockets are hollow, as you can see in the pics, this alows the mud to be pushed throught the sprocket.

Seeing that pic has cleared that up. Will be watching with interest. Guess this isnt exactly a cheap road to go down tho.
 
It is not very expensive when you can do everything yourself.
Most expensive parts are the chainring and sprocket, but with some patient and good searching prices aren't that high.
