There are certainly some great bikes on here, It's what gave me the motivation to start mine.

It's that time again, the weekly update! ;-)

I received in the post today a set of Gripshift SRT600 with grips from Foz on here, (thanks very much) so I built up the stem and bar with break leavers and my old SRT500 shifter with the grips from the 600's. (I'll keep those bodies as spares) I think it looks good, and is a real blast from the past, my those bars feel narrow though! ;-)

I also received the final proof for my replacement stickers from Gil_m, they look great. so I am now able to start work on the frame. A full tub of Nitromose later and I have most of the paint off just a few tricky areas left.
The frame looks in good condition, just a bit of surface pitting where the paint had failed. I shall be finishing the strip tomorrow and hopefully getting a coat of etch primer on.

Cheers

Simon.

Update time!

Well I spent this weekend getting the frame ready, I've etch primed it and filled the few dings with filler. Then applied 3 coats of primer filler with a wet flat between each to fill in any minor imperfections. Then I applied the colour coat, I had a small problem with the top tube, so it will need flatting down, and re coating possibly. I'm very happy with the colour, it looks good.

I have received my decals from Gil-M and they are cracking. I can't wait to see them on the frame.

So a final wet flat and sticker application, then lacquer, and it will be reassembly time! :)

Cheers

Simon.

Hi All

It's been a while since I posted. I've not had much chance to work on the bike for a little while, and I had a problem with the initial paint job. but it is just about sorted now.

I have applied the decals provided by Gil_M, unfortunately I have messed on of the HAMMER logos up so need a replacement, I've emailed Gil hopefully he can help.

there is no lacquer on the frame at the moment, I just thought I'd show you the Decaled frame, and show that the project is not dead! ;-)

Cheers

Simon.

woah that looks amazing.

Thanks, It looks better in the photo than it does in real life, I really like the satin finish, but its not accurate to how it was, so I have the lacquer to get the proper gloss finish. And to protect the decals which I want to keep looking great. :)

Cheers

Simon.

Simon, as another Blizzard owner (think destiny had a watchful eye over me & wouldn't let me sell it) I'm looking to renovate a pair of bar ends too. Mine are stubbies in white. Would you mind adding to the thread how you went about restoring them? Or PM me if I'm HiJacking??...
I agree, the lacquer will set the frame off for a nice gloss finish. I had my Lobster lacquered & my Blizzard will be also...
