How do you insure a retro bike?

Hi, new to the site and have found it fascinating reading.

I've had my Orange Vit T2 with Pace RC35 forks since new (April 1995) and, despite being ridden off road regularly, it's still immaculate.

Am generally interested in how you know what a bike might be worth for insurance purposes?

I have seen an Orange Vitamin being sold on eBay a little while ago so have an idea what they change hands for but I have never even seen another Vit T2 so have no idea what they fetch in relation to the earlier bike.

Also how do you guys get insurance for your bikes? When I asked my contents insurer if they would cover a 12 year old mountain bike they just laughed!

Thanks for any advice offered.

Paul

new for old. how much to replace it with a new version? get it done under house & contents is cheapest. (tho it probs wont be insured for outside of your house.) Direct line are fairly cheap. BCF for outside the house insurance, tho its gonna cost ya.
