Yeah I know ...
Etto was one of our sponsors (thanks for the help on that and God bless, Charlie Litsky) and since I lost a contact (hard lenses back then) I had to resort to the back-up eyewear ...

I have the all-Ti, Merlin-built version and raced it against the big boys including JT himself in 1990 and 1991.

Great pics - and a very cool bike - welcome to the site

Thanks! Those were truly great days and some great bikes.

I have to thank Scant as it was through him that I found this excellent site.

Going through some of these threads is like going through the family photo album. Makes me want to find a working VHS player to watch some of the videos I had collected and some that my wife shot of me at those races.

Thanks again and stay well

He jumped to Raleigh in 88 if I remember correctly.

Tomac first rode for Raleigh in 91, as well as Motorola on the road. Yeti in 1990 & Mongoose prior to that.

Paul, gorgeous Mongoose titanium :D

The Titanium is awesome Paul - do you still have it?!

Almost finished the IBOC thanks to a few retrobikers! just needs a rear brake and pedals. I'm going to ride this for a bit and if I get on with it will repaint it and polish / refinish the components.

Went for a spin on the turbo as it was dark :D

Had these nice Tioga "Japan" bars:

And this interesting Shimano BB cable guide with removable sealed tubes with o rings! That had me puzzled for a bit as it was bunged up with crud.

The headtube is very small on this bike.

That bike looks great - congratulations on the re-build. I always wanted one of those as well as one of the Ti/steel hybrid IBOCs to complete my Tomac Mongoose collection.

Yes I still have it and rode it last Summer. Still felt great and I missed the lightning fast handling it has compared to modern FS bikes I have.

Again great job and man - you have mighty long legs!

Ha! not so long... 34" inseam jeans, maybe its the photo angle is to blame...

Good to hear you still have the Ti, I wish i could have kept all my old bikes.

Unfortunately that's what my waistline has ballooned into!

And I know the feeling about old bikes that I should have kept - just ask scant. But he's helping me rectify that.

Just found out that IBOC stands for:

"International Bike Of Champions"

Not sure I live up to that title riding it to the shop.

In other news the IBOC now has a NOS Suntour XC SE rear brake.

A kind person sent me a decent quality scan of the 1989 catalogue page (click for high res):
