No. Different chain stays and look at the downtube-toptube interface. Schwinn is looking a likely candidate though.
Got any pics of the original components? Crankarms and stem mainly.

I'll take some pics of them now but i'm not sure they're the original ones but theyre the ones that came with the bike. i see the difference now... how frustrating i thought i was at the end of my search lol although its proving very interesting finding out all this stuff

Right ive popped them in my album pedals and crankarm's are specialized, think Stem may be the original. Cheers again really appreciate all the help

I think I remember a schwin with the "bent" downtube...? Couldn't tell you which model or anything though.... Good luck....

Found this a Schwinn powerglide? http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/schwinn/31450 looks pretty much the same and has the same brake placement on the back as mine?

I had one of them for about 3 months back in '97.
I had forgotten it had a wishbone seatstay.

Again, look at the toptube-downtube interface and the toptube shape.
