Just a splash of neon

From the early 90's, Marin Muirwoods U braked neon madness!

I've always had a soft place in my heart for old Marin's ever since I built and raced my Tet Team from 92-95 (soon to grace the pages of RBUK).

When I saw this bike for sale locally I just had to have it even though the parts are trash and the frame is a little small for me. I know not a logical build but it will be fun!

Frame has 1" head tube and "A" serial number, A-Pro built?

Current plans are to go all XT, but we will see.

More pics to follow.

Mine is 19". The frame number starts with a M and it has a 1 1/8" head tube.

I'm looking forward to updates on your thread. The more neon the better for this website!

Agreed! In fact your bike inspired me to pick this one up.

Serial # A906080108

Not sure what it means but i'm guessing A-Pro built. It also has a strange cast brake bridge on the rear, very un-Marvel-Marin looking. I will post a pic.

Obviously this bike needs some love and attention which it will receive, starting with some yellow touch ups, down tube decals (which I need to source in black. I have a set in silver left over from my Tet build back in the day), then finally some XT goodness.

Just a few more pictures of the Muir showing the minty fresh rims, cast brake bridge, and various decals.

Oh and a sweet A-Pro add from a 1992 Mountain Bike Action.

Really hope to move forward with this project soon.

Forgot the picture of the rims.

Heavy Joytech hubs but nice looking Araya hoops. Not sure these are going to stay.
