wtd: Campagnolo indexed downtube shifters

I've got 1st gen C Record ones, which can take either 6 or 7 speed inserts. Lovely levers, and I don't think they've ever been used.
Problem: they have a 6 speed insert. I have one 7 speed insert, but I'm using it in my 2nd gen levers.
Solution: Maybe there is a 7 speed insert out there (yeah, like!), or maybe you prompt me to finally take the leap to 8 speeds and fit the ergo levers that have been sitting in the garage for ages...
Pictures: first three here (the others have emigrated to the Continent):

Let me sleep on that one. I've been riding the same 7 speed set-up for more than 20 years. This would be a big step for me...
Can I run 8 speed ergos and mech with a 7 speed freewheel?

A pair of these, excellent condition. I'm not entirely sure how much they're worth though.

Thats a bonkers price for the NOS collectors - used? Dunno, but my Paypal is rapidly depleting as I buy more shiny things...
