m570, any good?

So, I have just bought a new bike off ebay (not saying what it is yet :p ).

Some of the kit on it looks quite shoddy, and need replacing, and I fancy some m570, as I have never had any, and it would suit the frame colourwise.

However, after looking on here and elsewhere, there appears to be loads of knackered shifters. Are they pony then? What about the rest of the gruppo?

Thanks folks

Thats the bluey lx stuff right?

I think the grease they used was just prone to drying out and i have fixed a couple by dousing in gt85 to free them up again.

The rest was fine yes.

Yeah the shifters would start to slip when it came to pulling cable back in, worst on cold days. As said it's an easy fix, just flush them through with WD40 or something similar.

The 570 Hubs are excellent; I have a wheelset I had built up in 1998 using 570 hubs and Mavic X517 rims, that is still going strong getting on for 14 years later with minimal fettling (a couple of strip/lubes and that's been it).

Currently doing sterling service on my single-speed commuter.
