Either a dedicated crank bolt tool ("peanut butter wrench"), or a 15mm socket with thin enough sides to fit!

Should do. I generally use an Ice Toolz box wrench/ pedal spanner (I know, I know but it does the job) which fits fine.
 
OK, thanks Tel. I might give one a try, although I have seen some "low profile" sockets that might do the trick!
 
I bought one of the icetoolz 14/15mm socket wrenchs at my LBS for 7.50 euros - works perfectly! Thanks for the tip Tel!
