1983 Steve Potts Brazed MTB [finished]

Slow but steady progress. The Phil Wood hubs (see the "before" pic a few posts up) got disassembled and a long soak in the amazing Evapo-Rust stuff. Rust is gone but now, but obviously the pitting it caused remains.

Next step was to send them off to Phil for a "rebuild" (meaning inspection and new bearings). Everything passed muster except for the front axle which they replaced (and thankfully with the old end-caps, the new axle won't be visible).

--------------
(a) = items original to the bike just cleaned up as best as possible
(b) = exact replacements of original items too rough to re-use

Pretty much everything else is a best educated guess at what would have been there in 1983 based on the owner, where he acquired the bike and how he rode it. The one big exception is the tires, which probably would have been Snakebelly's or Stumpjumpers.

Thanks for that extra pic. Your help with the disassembly and then later facilitating the Phil rebuild was most appreciated!
