Thats a new hub/wheel. Maybe cheaper and safer option of just switching to shimano mech shifter. You should be able to find something suitable for not a lot of cash.

Cheaper than that that shifter i first posted the stx one and a mech off the bay he'll be laughing 10-15 quid i would think.

Guys thanks for your help, liking the forum already as there seems to be plenty of people keen to help!!! 
I am off to think of some retro builds, and may get some photos up of my dads all original Raleigh "Off Road" Peak (still with its original tyres and seat :shock: ) he has asked me to give it a check over before he gets back on it.
Now why on earth did I dump my Apex with daft Flex Stem, XT upgrades and DX thumbies, what an idiot :roll:
