needle bearings (or any type of) in shock pivots, why are bike builders still not doing this??
clearly remember this as topic of disscusion in bike workshops back in 98!
loving the work thats going in to this build btw. this is how DH bikes should be built.

You mean compared to a bush?
Whats the advantage?
 
I think theres a few manufacturers fitting needle bearings. I would imagine the pivot movement would be loads smoother and maintain that action longer.
 
Needle bearings can take greater torsional loads and stay smooth under pressure.
the less friction in the rear suspension the more reactive it becomes to small fast impacts.
Not the best example but cannondale use them in the lefty and headshocks for this reason.
Maybe they have been tested by someone and not used for a reason? but it's one aspect of moto design that hasn't made the leap to MTB
