the pedals are ritchey's offering to answer the all consuming spud, mid 90's date wise....no better than spuds but they will do the job and look red too!.....both stems are high quality upgrades from the early 90's.....either will work great, and tick the retro box nicely....the down sweep on the syncros will change your riding position a lot though, and give you something pointy to fall on if you slip leaning so far forward. if you insist on removing the purple stem i personally would go with the control tech......your bike/ your choice though!.....enjoy!....

I probably go with controltech stem and ritchey pedals... an maybe I will change my mind and put some grey gear/brake cables...
