an old fool and his bike!

after finaly completing my retro build, i decided to take her out for a spin this afternoon.
i have not ridden a bike for 12 years, i smoke and have had 4 major knee operations since 1994.
i decided on a 6 mile circuit near my parents house on cannock chase.
however, at the 3 mile half way point i felt pretty good and decided to turn off for a longer ride.
i returned home after 16 miles and was walking sideways when i got off the bike.
i forgot to take my mobile, money or any fluids on the ride.
if i'd had my mobile i'd have phoned an ambulance after 12 miles!
the funny thing is, i enjoyed every painfull mile and it's inspired me to give up the fags.
to be honest, i feel pretty grim right now but, somehow realise what i've been missing for the last 12 years.
what a fool!

Great to hear you liked it. Welcome back in the pedaling world! ...and yes, quit smoking!

I've been in a similar situation lately. Given up the cigs and not ridden properly for a while but getting back into it and feeling a lot better! ;)

scant,

i realise that now but, halfway through my ride i may not have!
and i broke my arm twice on my bmx back in the day ;)

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Take it easy on the knee though. Good luck with the fags :D

what you call a spin would probably kill me ;)
i think i'll need a couple of years off the fags first!

Gareth,

good on you for getting out. Theres some fun stuff round the chase.
Ditch those tabs too - you can spend the money you save on more bikes :D
