RIC Super

That's an interesting bike you have. The badge may say RIC, but it's not a RIC.

RIC were manufactured in Hugo Rickert's home workshop in what was then West Germany between 1957 and 1958, a period of about 1.5 years, before Mr. Rickert was sued for trademark infringement and ordered to stop using the name "RIC". He then continued his business but under his full last name "Rickert".

RIC bicycles used ornate lugs, fancy chromovelato finishes, and pulley derailleur cable guides on top of the bottom bracket. The bicycle you have has none of these, and the lugwork and fork crown appears to be perhaps a Vagner? Also the BB is not threaded, whereas RIC always had threaded.

Send me a PM and I'll give you a link to my RIC Super (road bike) and a Rickert track bike.

There are a couple of German websites that mention a brief history of Hugo Rickert. Mr. Rickert was alive but retired as of about 3 years ago when I heard from a mutual friend who happens to live not too far from me, here in Southern California.

I would be interested in seeing better pictures of your frame to see if I can identify it.

Cheers,

Chilero
