Great story behind that bike. I would leave it as is, just maybe get the forks re-painted? Scratches are good if you put them there, show it's been ridden "to the max"
Looks like you have some nice kit going on it.

Yes it is! I even have a custom made TNT stem that has negative rise of 10 degrees. That way it is just like a racing bike. I will upload that picture also.
