Big pic Peugeot thread

Old thread but just found it. When I first got into cycling in 88 I saved and saved for a Peugeot Aravis. I still remember paying £450 for a it, 531pro, 105 components (some of the best brakes ever made), mavic MA40's, it was a great bike, I remember getting sub 22 minutes on my local 10 tt with just drop bars (though soon got rid of those horrible biopace rings). The great thing is its still running. After a couple of years it became a winter bike and I got it powder coated as it was chipped quite badly. Up until this year I used it as my commuting bike. My 2012 plan is to get it resprayed and retro build. I have c record deltas, gears and a chorus chainset, open 4cd/chorus hubs, simplex levers waiting to get used. I still love this bike. 25 1/4" is big and you do get a small amount of flex but its lovely to ride. Will post some pics when its up and running. The only thing that will annoy the purists out there is I will be putting an A head stem on as it will get my position perfect (old fart now with back pain).

Peugeot

Hi Everyone
Love this thread, keep coming back to it.
I was lucky to have a Peugeot Aravis a good few months ago, alas i sold the frame on to a member here.i regret it ever since.
But,last night i was in my element when a club colleague came round to see me with another.
I had mentioned it before to him but nothing developed. So here i am with a nice Peugeot Aravis,Very good components and a nice clean frame set.

I will post some photos this weekend, stripped with all the bits.
Plan is to clean up and rebuild.

Purchased for a bargain price!!!!!!!!

753

As my interest in 753 frames continue, ive just picked up a perthus pro.Looks original, and all parts correct as the 1988 catalogue apart from the wheels(mavic open pro 8spd).

In the catalogue it states 126 rear stay, did they change to 130 at any time or possibly just stretched to make the wider wheels fit???

Anybody know of where to get the replacement rainbow decals?

Nick

My Peugeot

Hello everyone.

Is here peugeot specialist who could identify my Peugeot?

I'm quite sure it's 1987 Aravis or Ventoux.

Stronglight Crankset, Weinmann 570 brakes, rear derailleur (Sachs Huret Rival) were all painted white. Frame is Reynolds 501.

Components will mach for both models, but I haven't find Ventoux pictures with white components. Aravis looks exactly same, but haven't find any info has it been available with red/white Reynolds 501 frame?

Bike was quite project. Changed Suntour index gears (not in picture) and new Shimano 105 crankset. Crankset because bigger chainring was missing. Helicomatic hubs needed complete repairing. Just ordered new Selle Turbo saddle.

Hope this belongs to Retrobikes ;-)

Keep coming back to this post with delight
One of my earlier posts here,i spoke about an Aravis model of which i bought from a club colleague, since then i moved it on to try and fund my ultimate Peugeot, The Perthus Pro.Reynolds753 with Shimano600 groupo
Well one is winging it's way to me as we speak.
Really looking forward to receiving it,some work needed to get it up to spec, wheels and a few components, but the frame is in exceptional condition and the right size for me.

Anyway please have a look, what do you think
Any advise!!!!!
