What a conundrum!

How about put cable where it should go, remember that position then loosen off the clamp and tighten the cable into the position from earlier then slide mech back down until cable is taut.

the easier way is my method posted above.
 
Hmm maybe. This is how i setup front mechs at work sometimes though and it seems to work first time with minimal adjustment if your careful with it.

edit: is it still possible to get hands on BETD stuff? they don't come up very often (almost never :? )

Do they change geometry as well? Like 120mm front susp. does...?

don't hold me to this but i believe it'll change the headtube angle, which in turn should allow a longer travel fork to be used.
