cannondale super v 1996

SUPER V MATT

Retro Newbie
hi
i had this new in 1996 and have recently got it back but there are a few questions i need answering please if anyone can help ?

its all barbacue black in frame and swingarm

its got a 1997 C on front of head tube

mc60 headshock

fox rear coil spring shock and is mounted to the downtube and not seat post

the usual cadd equiped and lx gear apparently but im pretty sure it had xt equipment on it when new

this is an odd bike as cant be found in any cannondale catalogue and also has the cannondale world with mountains and flags on the rear seat post on frame

any help would be great and im thinking this is a 25yr anniversary special edition and thats why its not mentioned anywhere

many thanks

looks like a stock sva model , no model number means it might be a "special" but it should have a name on it
if it is a non numbered one (sv700 or so) i probably will have low range
parts bolted on alivio stx and so forth

has it got black tribal flames on the down tube ?

Could be a Super V700 from '97, it fits with the description here,
http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Dom ... per_v.html

Obviously it's not conclusive proof because Bikepedia has different details,
http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Bike ... &Type=bike

Anyway it's a nice bike, I love

my Super V 1000SL which I've fitted a Lefty to.

no flames on it and its never had any markings as to what model it is

i think its a super v 1000 but been told its an s v 900

it came originally with lx xt mix

One think is sure. Maximum travel on 96 bikes was 50mm.
No "C" on the headtube and no "shadow" letters under main Cannondale logo.
Looks like 97 V700 as old coyote pedaller wrote.
If it was end of 96 its possible you got some early batch of 97 models.

It's one of the superv actives, so 96 onwards. Check the bb frame number. It will have the year of production as the first two numbers. The next ones with determine size, model, colour etc. put it on here and I'll see if I can remember how it works. Cannondale are a nightmare for launching half season bikes, so you may have a 96 and a half, as hey would launch a new or updated model part way through a year. The fact it has no model number on it would suggest its around 99, when they gave up using model numbers on the frame or it's been a warranty replacement.

I'd plump for a low end, 1997 active 80...

Coil over shock points this way, and i think downtube logo altered for '98.

Would never have seen XT as standard...

Possibly a warranty replacement, but Dale have the bad habit of "downgrading" your purchase. ie buy a frameset in frame only colours, then replace with a 700
