What do you do to pay for all the bikes ?

Whilst I'm no expert like our Harry (must look up your shop when I'm next in South Wales), I have taken a renewed interest in wine of late, and have found Jefford's book The New France to be very helpful.

I've also found that buying "second wines" by a good winemaker from a decent to good vintage to be a way of enjoying some lovely french wines with their expression of terroir at a lower price. Particular favourites at the moment include the 2002 "Les Tourelles de Longueville" and the 1997 "Sarget de Gruaud Larose" both available from Majestic (although stocks are getting low, at least in the South East London area) due to my purchasing activity.

Independent merchants are worth looking at. Theatre of Wineare friendly, welcoming and full of good wines to try and (strangely) the brewer Adnams have an interesting range. Both do mail order as well.

That is indeed an excellent book...probably re-read a chapter every other day at work.

If you like Pichons 2nd...you must try Chalet de Pauillac (basically their 3rd).
The 2004, whilst a little young is drinking really nicely and at a fiver or so cheaper than Tourelles is stunning value...to be honest, I prefer it.

I work for Nicolas..there are plenty in London. If you like your Bordeaux I would highly recommend the 2001 Ch. Brillette, a Moulis-en-Medoc. For a softer style, the 2001 Escurac is excellent too.

My father was given half a case of Jevry (sp?) Chambertan (sp?) premier cru from Nuits St George as a gift from the towns rugby club. Proper expensive wine, tastes good too.

On to the wine, while I am not an expert, I do have the advantage of inlaws who produce their own Shiraz. Got, hmm, quite a few bottles in the cool room just outside and have had a few tonight!

Special Needs teacher by day (specialising in Alternative and Augmentative Communication with children with aiutistic spectrum disorder), then when bad weather/middle of the night comes I rip my clothes off and become mountain rescue man (doesn't pay the bills though, but you do get to play with syringes, helicopters, pyrotechnics, ropes etc). Any spare time is filled with parenting - 4 radarlings are a massive drain on bike part kitty though.

Well yeah, due to poor weather and luck we had no '07 so we're having to pace ourselves... Roll on the 2008 vintage!

Whilst were all in a wine tasting mood, can any advise me on a few bottles, I have 6 bottles of Dom Perignon 1996 vintage & 6 bottles of 96 Bollinger, each individually boxed. I have owned them a few years now, but have never got around to deaming an occaision suitable for opening.

I have read several sites that advise to "drink now" but others which have suggested to keep it still longer.

So, crack em open soon, or save them for something special?

After finishing Real Estate Management I was "stupid" and followed the bike virus in my head. And now.... it's hard to find a proper/better job that fits...
