Dirt Disciple
I have just acquired this bike and it is in stunning condition.Made with Columbus EL-OS tubing and with the typical relaxed Lemond angles.

I wonder if any of the foum readers have come across this Lemond bike as all others I have seen have been made from Reynolds or Excel tubing?

Any info./background would be much appreciated.

thanks

Richard

Gan Lemond

Thanks for your comments John

The other bike shown has many similar decals to my own so will I guess be of a similar era.I will post pictures later today.

Do you know who built the Columbus bikes for Lemond?

Richard

Think Bilato built all the pre-Trek Lemond output in steel. Check the frame, should be a bilato stamp somewhere, from memory on the brake bridge on the rear seatstays.

Bilato

Hi John

I have checked the rear brake bridge and it is stamped "SILV" which I understand is for Silvano Bilato.

How do Bilato frames rank in terms of quality as there are so many Italian builders?

Richard

LeMond

I do have a LeMond GAN frame that is made out of french tubing

EXCELL it's called

Excell is a French tubing manufacturer that makes some very light road tubesets. Giordana frames, sold by Gita in the United States, uses the Excell Podium OS tubing in a 3.5 lb. road frame. Good stuff
