Zinn Z-753. (Ride pics added)

I'm absolutely stunned to find Zinn bikes held in such high regard on here.
Back in my previous life as a frame builder I was contracted to design and build Zinn bikes by Whiteburner Products in Smethwick. I was only there a few months and then moved on to do my own thing building custom frames.
Considering how few were built it's amazing to see so many in one place.

I can attempt to answer any questions but was all a very long time ago!

Welcome to retro bike.....!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to post, on the thread, and can i say well done.

Believe it or not, to me personnally, at the young age i was back then, your frame design did make a massive impact on me, as did the use of the reynolds 753 tube set, as i had said at the beginning of this, it was the first british bike that i saw, that had used it, other than the examples used by the sponsored pro elite riders, and indeed to me the first british handbuilt steel bike to use sum of the designs previously more frequently seen on american bikes etc.

the weekend they were displayed at the malverns was amazing, and so good to see sum english quality first hand, and on display, amongst so many other brands, and bikes that people were riding.

Perhaps as members we remember these days as our glory dayz, and to be truthfull im glad you did have a hand in the building and design of these frames/bikes, and whether you realised it or not, your quality is coveted by many. To me this is a as much of a landmark model as say a pace rc100, but for totally different reasons. for a start its steel..........high quality steel... :D

this all may sound a little kiss assy, but i just got to say it. I own this bike, its 20 odd years old, its been used but is as well put together today , as it was when you made it, it has stood the test of time in more ways than one, and still has a contempory look to it, its fast, its light, its agile, a good climber, and ticks every box.....!!!! I have to commend you on a fantastic job...!!!!

I do have a question.....if i can be so bold...???

Are you still building frames, ? and If not would you consider building again?

Zinn

Hi,

Nice......Very Nice

I have a Zinn in Reynolds 501 with 531 bars,stem
And front forks in a dark grey .
It came with Sachs however over the years it's got
Same era XT on it
I can't remember the model as the sticker on the top tube
Is worn out
Does anyone know what it is (without a picture)

Cheers Neebo

Where would I find that ? bottom bracket doesn't have anything ??
It has red Zinn stickers rack and guard mounts

Cheers Neebo

New here so Hi and thanks Hopefully
For your Patience
Dunno how to attach a pic with my iPhone
As pc feckered

Stamped on the BB shell normally - rack mounts and Sachs grouppo + red decals indicates one of the later 'budget' models. Still an excellent quality frame and forka though of course.

Yeah it was probably the Cheapest model
:( however I'm not parting with it as it is cool
Might not be a Klein,Yo Eddy,Cannondale or stumpjumper, someone has to ride the Ford Fiesta though :)
I've not known of any others till I seen your post .
I'll try and get a photo up
Can't find anything on the net about them.

Cheers
Neebo

some more ride pics,.. :)
