Not offended at all

Bad points are,steering and brakes ,suspension is almost non existant
Good points ...it will take as much abuse as you give it,and no one will nick it :!:

I weighed it to compare with my work mates kona.....his is 15 kilo .......:

The craptivator...............18 kg so not much in it

The fork lift was included as a joke ....just my sense of humour

You would enjoy owning one but may need better forks and brakes :twisted:

Im not saying its better than anything else on this forum ,I was all ready to flog It
until I read up on the history

Raleigh are a bit like British leyland , they made mistakes,made a few gems

Then they made the activator,copying other manufactures,it was raleigh's 1ST
full suspension mtb although not that good,it still deserves to be preserved

And I like to collect obscure oddities

18kg? That's not bad. My Scott Arapahoe tipped the scales at over 23kg (51lbs) ... after I replaced the default fork and front wheel with one that I took off a honda MT-5.

Wish I had taken photos of that one, it was hilarious to look at and a hoot to ride

I agree - the FS Activator was also pretty early for a production FS bike, built to price point but strong as an Ox.

I remember a 17 stone mate of mine hitting a large lump of granite flat out on his Mustang (same frame) and bending the front front wheel almost to 90 degrees

Frame was straight and it took a couple of people jumping on the wheel to get him home. Fun times

Mine was the red (I think 1994 model) one. Here's a random pic of one I saw on the net.

Keep in mind that it handled like a truck, even in its original state.
The front end replacement actually improved the handling. The different weight distribution (the MT-5 fork was as heavy as the rest of the bike) and 19x3.0" front tyre really killed the understeer.

Maybe trials motorbike forks and knobbly tyres,

Can't wait to get a welder ...I envisage a ratro ,Frankenstein,klunker ready for summer :roll:
