Just curious, what's the thing that looks to be brazed onto the left fork blade ?

think it's to mount a light or dynamo,

guess the bike used to be more like a 'randonneur'-type of bike

Ah! just twigged..........the bike was meant to be ridden on the "wrong side of the road"

I was expecting the light to be attached to the right fork LOL

but doesnt exist anymore..
used to be a very famous racing team back in the days..
