Drugs & Retrobiking - Discussion

Back when I was riding Enduros all the time, here's how it went.

Night before an Enduro:

Take the mick out of people going to the pasta party
Pub
Kebab

Morning of the Enduro:

Wishing I'd gone to the pasta party instead
Toilet to remove all traces of pub & kebab
Bacon Sarnie
Toilet
Coffee
Toilet

During Enduro:

Jelly Babies
Water
Paracetamol

After Enduro (when I got home):

Burger King
Pub
Ale
Crisps
Sleep


It's worth noting that if I tried this regime now, I'd probably die..!
 
If it's a big ride, a huge bowl of porridge with raisins added before cooking so they go soft) and plenty of muscovado sugar.

I have a nasty Tracker bar addiction when riding. I only drink water, energy drinks just seem nasty to me.
 
There was only on race back in the days i took part in and that's maybe because of how things went.

Can't remember what i ate the night before but it couldn't have been very much.
I had no breakfast at all. On my way to the race i ate some chocolate.
After 40 miles or so i fell of my bike and the world around me got dark. :)
5 minutes after that someone gave me a banana. That was the best and most delicious banana you could imagine. This banana gave me the strenth to finish the race.
After the race i ate 3 or 4 portions of pasta.

This is how i did and of course it was dumb. :LOL:

before every ride:

dinner: whatever is going.

morning of ride: stovetop espresso, white.

durning ride: water, multiple bidons

post ride: espresso or two
 
Reading this I have now figured out why im so slow. Its not lack of talent, fitness or determination. It's a lack of beer. :LOL:

Oddly enough, you'd probably fail an IOC drug test with that.

Slightly dissapointing thread. I thought it would be two pages of folk 'fessing up to taking retrobiking right back to its roots and enjoying a few combustibles whilst riding in the boonies.

Goes to show how few of you have been on our infamous Big Dirty Weekenders then :LOL:

so keeping within the bounds of legality, I'll disclose my favourite riding habits. Pizza and beer the night before, a full English and tea enroute to the ride, 2 x iboprofen and 2 x paracetemol just prior to the ride and at least a pint of ale during. Usually take a flask of vintage cognac on colder rides. ALWAYS have a side bursting curry afterwards to undo any benefits of the ride afterwards.
