Advice needed

Retro Newbie
Hello everybody

I am restoring a Raleigh M-Trax circa 1992. I need advice on what Chainset, front and rear derailleurs and shifters would be best to use.

Nothing too expensive, middle of the range.

Though it started life as a mountain bike I am looking to convert it more to a cyclocross bike.

Thanks

Rich

+1 For M560

I worked in an M-trax dealership and when Raleigh Ran out of Alivio or STX they would just use their LX stuff up - so we had bikes with all sorts of pot luck upgrades.

So regardless of which model you have, it would be in keeping with the original spec too!

the OP mentioned CX aspirations, I think a pair of 7 or 8x3 STIs brifters (for drop bars) would work well with the LX cantis and rear mech, though you may have trouble with the front mech and require a road specific one (due to differences in pull ratio of road and MTB shifters) which would then mean you might be better off with a road chainset.

Oh dear, here we are again!
