I have loads of these things and really rate them, they're very bright. The 3 LED (as pictured in Raging Bulls Post) and 7 LED ones are suprisingly bright too and really cheap.

The cateye ld600 is very good. My mate uses that one and its hard to miss. I use the blackburn mars 2, which I prefer because its a more compact unit and similar brightness to the cateye.

Have to admit, really liking those Smart units.

Personally, I run cheap as chips ebay jobbies, one on my pack, one on my bike, although the bracket is meant to be a bit pants so I don't use it. But.. if you want quality get one of the one's listed

I have to agree - one has lasted 5 years now on the back of my tourer and another on the tandem. Sturdy, bright, waterproof!

I use this Smart 1/2 watt on flashing which is very bright and excellent for grabbing drivers attention but not quite into blinding them so they crash into you!

As well as their own mounts they can also be clipped onto panier racks (with an extra clip you can get) or directly onto the bag of saddlebags if they have a loop.

Like a few people on this thread I've been using the Cateye LD 600 and I've got no complaints at all. It seems to be bright enough, it's easy to use and the 2 x AAA batteries last a long time.

I just bought that Smart one the other day for 6 quid, it does seem bright enough indeed.

The bracket isn't the best though, and it seems a bit rattly, but then again, I paid 6 quid for the thing, so can't complain really.

Marty,

That might be due to the flexible nature of the plastic. It shouldn't be able to come out of the mount tho.
If necessary, pull the small lever to where the light itself should be, then slide the light in the mount. It should snap in place with an audible "click".
